Class Descriptions

Please note that, during the pandemic, most of my classes are either virtual or outdoors with safe social distancing and masks.

The advantage of my virtual group classes is that you get to exercise at home but you still have some of the same camaraderie and fun you would get when taking a group class in person!

Keep up with your ballet from your own home! This class will include a long barre and a couple of mostly stationary center combinations. The goal of this class is to help students keep their muscles in ballet shape by utilizing technique with combinations that you can do in the space you have at home. Keeping us moving and socially distanced! You can choose to have the video on, in which case Kaethe will give what corrections she can see based on your video set up, or choose to follow along with your video off. Just be sure you have enough room for barre and something to hold on to for a barre.

Virtual Pilates Description:

This is virtual version of my Mat Pilates class. This class gives you the opportunity to build strength and mobility in the comfort of your own home. It is recommended that you have a Theraband and/or light weights and a small ball, but I will make do with whatever equipment you already have or don’t have. I give corrections based on what I can see in your video and can help you figure out the best set up for the class. You will need enough floor space to be able to lie flat with your legs extended. If you have a hard floor, a mat of some sort is recommended.

Virtual Stretch Description:

This is a virtual option of my stretch class. This class provides a variety of deep stretches to stretch every part of your body! It helps release stress as well as your muscles. I talk you through a variety of stretches, with modifications to fit your flexibility level. You will need enough room to lie flat with your legs stretched out and, ideally, your arms stretched out to the side, but modifications can be made for most spaces. If you have a hard floor, you will want a blanket or mat. Also recommended, but not required, is a theraband or a yoga strap. However, I will work with whatever equipment you already have.

Pilates Mat Class:

Pilates is a full-body, low-impact workout that focuses on balancing the big and small muscles in the body. You will improve your overall strength and mobility while helping prevent injury! Core work is an important foundation in all Pilates classes, especially mine. My Pilates classes, like all my classes, include a great deal of injury prevention and recovery, including building a balance between mobility, flexibility and strength. I give modifications so that you can do what your body needs that day. Every exercise is taught with precision so that you get the most out of every movement. Personal corrections, hands-on if you allow, are also given to help you improve your form and build strength in small muscles as well as large muscles. I teach in a way that increases your body awareness, including improving the isolation of different muscles and joints. Mat Pilates exercises can use some equipment, i.e. small balls, light weights, therabands, but mostly uses exercises that use your own body weight, gravity and physics to work your body in a low-impact way.

Stretch Class:

Create flexibility while relaxing! My stretch classes are deep stretch classes that incorporate various stretches I have picked up through my years of dancing as well as some yoga stretches and poses. You will stretch your whole body and improve your flexibility, which makes moving through life easier and more pain free! Perfect for every level of flexibility, I give modifications that allow you to find the stretch level that feels good but is still productive.

Ballet Class Description

Ballet, one of the oldest forms of exercise and art, is my first passion. I have taught ballet for ages three to adult but absolutely love teaching adults and serious teens! My classes are very technique based but I still try to keep them fun. I think ballet can be enjoyed by anyone, whether you started at three or forty! I have a mix of training that includes everything from Checcetti to Vaganova. In true American fashion, I teach a mix of styles. My goal, in my teaching, is to make each individual the best dancer she or he can be, in the safest, most injury-free way possible. I teach classes from basic beginner to professional level. Please see my class schedule or contact me for more information.
